Seasons Greetings and Family Times

Festive Season is already in full swing!
Christmas Tree waiting for me at the
Adelaide Airport.
Love the blues, silver and greens.

I was flying on these beaut clouds into Adelaide.
With a big smile from my window seat!
On my way to see family before we all head off
to Victoria. We expected that the Summer warm
weather would continue into the week-end.
A storm on Saturday night cooled things down with
rain, thunder and lightning through the night.
The morning was mild and cooler.
Just perfect for a garden wedding!

More rustic sights waited for us at the Glen Erin
Winery, Lancefield.

Last Week-end we celebrated the Wedding of
my Son and his beautiful Bride.

With the Winery as a back drop how could it
not be a wonderful day?

Masses of white roses and yellow ones too!
Enough roses to keep me happy!

The sweet couples first kiss as Husband and Bride.
Below are the happy Mothers receiving a kiss and
Red Rose each. Two very proud Mums,
What a Surprise! Can you see my knees shaking?

The Cake cutting with a difference.
Both are Ford Fans and own a black Ute.
The Cake tasted as good as it looked.
Below the Sun Set as a backdrop to the Reception.
Lots of laughter and much dancing.
Lucky I packed my dancing shoes!
Together we all got to wish the newly weds
happy times ahead. Thanks to all our dear family
and friends who attended and made it such
a lovely day shared with special people.

On the flight home the storm clouds gather as we get closer to Darwin. They were so white it hurt my eyes to look!

Seasons Greetings and Happy Holiday times
to you all. I hope your Christmas is as sweet as
this fantastic Gingerbread House!

Thanks for stopping by at this busy time
of the year.
Best Wishes to you all.

My Flame Tree is a Poinciana!

If you wonder down my street you will find a little playground.
Where children play and dogs run.

Where this time of the year with the lead up to Christmas you are treated with
a beautiful sight. These amazing flowers on the Poinciana Tree!

This is the first time I have noticed the white bits in the bright orange
flowers! Maybe it is time that I slowed down a little and enjoy
the sights more often!

This is another photo taken on holidays in Brisbane, Australia.
It was taken before I got my first Digital Camera so I have
scanned it to bring all the beauty out.
We had a great time that day wondering around the parks
and enjoying all the Spring flowering plants.
So much different from Darwin and our Tropical plants.

Also I am playing with photo editing on PicMonkey.
See at the top of the blog, my newly edited glam pic of myself!
I had a bit of a play with a family photo and cropped myself out.
Then did some editing magic and WOW I look pretty special if
I do say so myself!

The programme is FREE which is great!
You can make and create to your hearts content.
With lots of special effects and collages to keep
everyone busy and happy.

Why not dig out some of your old pics and give it a try too?

So what have I learned this week?
That my dearly loved Flame Tree is actually called a Poinciana Tree!
If you get up closely and check out the flowers they look pretty special.
They are nice, green and shady all the rest of the year but with
Christmas around the corner they flower in bright bursts of orange.

Poinciana,
Royal Poinciana, Flamboyant Tree, Fleur-de-paradis,
Gul Mohr, Flame of the Forest.
As we head to work I keep an eye out for them lining the path to the
Darwin City. Whoever planted them years ago I give a big
Thank you !

Hope you all take the time to get out in the fresh air and enjoy whatever
beautiful Season you are lucky enough to be having in late October!
Love to hear what you are looking forward to at your country.

This week I have had some health problems that made me slow down
and have that Doctors visit I often put off. Luckily it is all sorting
itself out and I am allowing myself the TLC that I need to be
a Healthy Happy Me again.

I hope you my Blog friends are keeping well.
Lots of Love, Bye for Now.

Such is Life

Hello Everyone!

Another Month is almost over and we are all very busy, busy
with all the day to day things in Life.
It's been great to catch up with a lot of our family interstate
earlier this month. For us this year has been HUGE!
We have made frequent trips away from Northern Territory
but always am glad to get back Home to Darwin.
Sometimes you wonder what is it all about?
Life?
I am reminded of something I have read.

HAPPINESS IS

Something to DO
Something to BE
Something to LOVE

I tend to agree that all of the above is very important.
When I see my family growing up and enjoying each others
company so much. That makes me very happy!
We are all growing and changing along the way.

TRUST is also something that allows us to
feel physically and emotionally safe and happy.
It is good to have a feeling of Well being.

Today's photos are of a beautiful pair of Giraffes at the
Adelaide Zoo. They are a sweet couple and this is a
favourite snap from many years ago taken on a
family outing.

Below is a river view of Brisbane taken on a holiday
that we had. It was the first time I fell in love with one of my
favourite trees the Jacaranda Tree that flowers before
Christmas. I love the lavender to purple buds that line the
streets where we lived in Adelaide and where my close
family live now. I will be thinking of them enjoying this
lovely sight although we will be missing out! This year.

We have our own flowering trees that flower this time
of the year with a beaut show of orange blossoms.
I call them flame trees although this is not the correct name
for them that is what they look like!
I have also noticed another flowering tree in my area that
has pink or lavender flowering now and looking lovely.
If I get a chance I will try to capture some snaps soon.

Meanwhile our Grandchild Jacob is growing fast and looking
quite the little man! He has taken a shine to his Grandpa
which is not surprising to anyone. We all love him.

Something about a man in overalls?!
One day he will be heading to the backyard to help in the garden
with his Pa!

Hope you all have an extra fun week.
Thanks for dropping by and look forward to hearing what
you are all up at the moment.

Welcome New Grandbaby, August 2012!

Here we are Welcoming our new Grandson Jacob into our family.

Big Greetings to you all!
August has come and gone and I have been away from home, work and my blog.
While we waited for the arrival of our first grandchild we got the chance to
really enjoy some beautiful country visits and some chilly to mildly spring type
weather. It was Almond Blossom time and a lovely show of flowers made me
feel homesick for the seasons that living down south provides.
Such a pretty soft look they give the hills and countryside.

My trip was extended from two weeks to three when dear bub was in no hurry
to venture out into the world but arriving two days before my birthday!
Making it an extra special time for me.
They are all one sweet new family Candice, Adam and Jacob. Plus dear
Sylvia the cat. All is coming along nicely and they are settling family life well.

New Nursery set up for new arrival.
Love the Love Print from
A Special finishing touch to Jacobs Nursery.

Almond Blossom Time

Mother Finch watching over babies

Sylvia the much loved cat

Give me a quiet Country road to wander any day!
Best Wishes to you all,
Welcome to all my new readers, thanks for stopping by
from all over the world.
Look forward to reading your comments.
Bye for now, Sue

V8 Supercars Week-end.... Racing Fun

Welcome to my space, my garden, my home!
When I visit all my favourite Blogs I love to see what
everyone has been up to and what they are creating or
working on. Some Blogs are so much fun to catch up and see what's been happening since my last visit. The past few
weeks have been very busy dry season days at work for me
so getting home and back to where I feel at ease and myself is
very important. I am loving the beaut cooler weather and am enjoying how great all the new flowering plants that Hubby has planted lately are progressing.
He has been busy making our patio BBQ area bigger with paving and removing some of the overgrown garden to give us so much more space. The addition of a new sail to shade the table and the spa will make everything so much more inviting and shady. When we moved in the garden was overgrown with way too many palms and mostly green. Now it is springing to life with some additional colour with some new plants that will survive the hot tropical sun. Missy the dog is a keen onlooker of all the gardening projects and keeps us company. She likes to have some attention when I am trying to take some photos of the progress and it is great to see her so happy with plenty of room to run now. So as you can see she
has a smile from ear to ear these days with so many lizards to chase!
Last Week-end was the 15th year for the V8 Supercars at Hidden Valley in Darwin. Hubby enjoyed two days of racing action and caught some of it on film for me to share with you. Enjoy!
Hope your Week-end was fun filled.

Lazy Days in the Garden

Welcome to Darwin!

In the City or the Country

Young or Vintage

Join in on the Fun!

Hug a Huge Tree

Or Just Sit under it's shade

Make a Wish List of your own

Hi All,
Today I have to share with you some of the great
photos that I took just yesterday at the beautiful
George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens.
I am sure that this lush green oasis in the Darwin City
holds something special for all of us visitors and locals
alike. If you venture to Darwin it is well worth the
time spent just wondering in its perfect vastness.
I love that it is open for everyone to share and is free.
Hubby and I spent a special morning yesterday
at the Tropical Garden Spectacular.
We keen little gardeners and garden planners like
myself can bask in the greatness of clever Nursery and
Garden Specialists who know their stuff and do it
so well. I have to say a big thank you to them for
inspiring ideas and sharing tips to us ordinary folk.
Helping us to beautify our little backyards and turn
them into our very own tropical paradise!
I myself prefer to gaze out at all the work and take
the time to Laze, Relax and Enjoy!
Especially after a big week at work and
after all this is what it is meant for!
Greetings to you all and hope your
Weekend was as special as ours.
PS.. Have some new plants on the wish list!
PSS.. Thank-you dearest green thumbed Hubby
for making dreams come true!
